People, jobs in Spain contest

Humilladero 3,500 people live and the Mayor could not decide, who give the few jobs there.

The Mayor of the Andalusian city of Humilladero hears every day in his Office the evidence of their fellow citizens, sometimes, that more devastated by looking for a job and deserve to eat money and pay for housing. But with 30% unemployment, that every morning confronted the Andalusian, is complex and difficult to resolve the situation.

The need sparked the imagination and creativity, therefore this Mayor proposed, a pioneering initiative in Spain for the inhabitants of his village, which was copied in less than two weeks already by other Andalusian cities: win public contracts.

"The idea came, because every day I get in my Office in the city, comes to tell me how bad that happened." And I am not one to say that a person deserves it seemed unfair, a job instead of others, selected and omit others. "Everyone here know anyone we are 3,500 people, so I decided that was the best to handle jobs", says BBC World Mayor Humilladero, Noelia Rodriguez, of the political party Izquierda Unida.

And it qualifies. "Employment is most definitely not competition councils, but the (people's Party) Government." "But as we can see, make more cuts, no employment support measures," criticized the Mayor.

Method of selection

More than 300 people of the people signed up to three jobs per month and pay a week 625 euro gross per four hours of work for five days. Town Hall opened three job boards: one for gardener, a cleaning and one for Mason.

The draw was three weeks ago and contributions have been awarded, so that each of the citizens and citizens already in the Bolsa de Empleo know registered what will deal with post and which month you're going to play.

The amount of registered vacancies be treated until 2040.

The process was as follows: every inhabitant pointed to the jobs wanted, they might be all three. And then became the draw.

As an example if someone for gardener in September 2012 leaves and also asked Mason and cleaning, happens the last in these lists are up to it again to leave. Thus given the opportunity for all.

Prerequisite was to carry registered more than one year in the city and have the ability to carry out the tasks. The rest depends on luck.
