Thousands of people protest austerity plans in Germany
The German police was 20,000 people that came out to protest in the financial capital, Frankfurt, against the austerity programmes which are being taken in the countries of the eurozone.
The demonstrators carried banners saying "the eurozone is in ruins". Expect more protest action for the rest of the weekend.
Several hundred protesters were arrested Friday during protests not permitted near the headquarters of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt.
