Business that prescription medication

Business that prescription medication. People in PSU are crushed by inefficiency by their senior. I am an engineer in a reputed firm in India. By choice I selected it as it lies in the heart of poor, tribal people. In extra time I started teaching children and motivated my friends to join in this endeavor. As our work expanded I after a struggle with the system moved to CSR department. Here i found people working only to make face value. Anyway I again made adjustment and started ignoring tasks assigned by my immediate seniors if it is given in odd time, to be execute programs of my own will (I learned to play with hierarchy. If you start ignoring your seniors, he will adjust according to save his own face). As my own works are giving face value to my organized although it is not in the policy, people at top started recognizing my work (as I always send report of my work to higher authorities) and appreciated me. This started giving me more freedom and now I am able to work for the poor well which I always longed for while working in office (a time consuming machine).

What delights me is the opportunity to learn about new things, be exposed to new ideas, and then be challenged to then create something related to this new information. That's why I'm grateful to be in a business that allows me to do that. Maybe not every day, but much more often than not. Business that prescription medication

It may sound silly, but it almost doesn't matter if what I'm learning about seems mundane or trivial. The pleasure comes more from the learning process itself. For example, when I first got into B2B and technical products advertising, I remember learning about the metal stamping processes used to create things like displays shelves in stores. It changed my perspective in some way. The next time I was in a store, I looked at the display equipment and imagined how various companies made those things, perhaps others handled their distribution, and someone on the store's end had to select, specify, and purchase those items, while still others installed them. Business that prescription medication

Business that prescription medication There is a whole network of hidden processes behind the things we see and do everyday. From a prescription medication we may take first thing upon waking, to the weave of the sheets we sleep on when we go to bed at night. This hidden world continues to fascinate even after close to two decades in this business.

What is a key to success?

Last week I read about reporter who inverviewed Warren Buffett and Bill Gates. When asked "what is your most important key to success?" without a hesitation they replied:
Focus, focus, focus! What do you think about their response?
What in your view is a key to success?

I believe they are saying we need to have a laser like focus on the goal to ensure it's reached. Focus ensures we are not distracted. Having vision is an important ingredient as well. Success hinges on so many intangibles, but I would confidence and drive. Confidence in your abilities and your team is crucial to success as it bolsters you on the journey as well as sets the tone or attitude. Where focus brings clarity to where you're going, drive is the engine which ensures we reach our destination.

Along with single minded focus, one need to believe in self, and having an unlimited self determination that the victory is ahead…and encompassing all this the WILL POWER to succeed

THE POWER TO BELIEVE IN YOU,

THE ZEAL THAT YOU POCESS WITH YOU TO ACHIEVE SOMETHING,

WILL MAKE YOU THE ONE WHOSE BOUNDARIES CANNOT BE DEFINED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This would be my way of seeing to achieve sucess

Very interesting discussion thread. I agree with points made by all. However I feel for any one to be successful he/she/organisation should first define the Success. It is a relative term. You need to define your own definition.

Once you define it, there are many ways to achieve it.

Deciding short term and long term GOALS is the first step. Then you need to make a very clear and detailed action plan to meet them. Here the strategy will play important role. Even if it is for individual or for organization, detailing and assigning the responsibility is important. You need to identify right people. If it is for an individual then you should have self belief that this plan will deliver the results and meet the goals.

Periodic review and continuous improvement is action plan based on the progress and bottlenecks is the responsibility of the owner.

To gain success, owner should also possess lot of personal qualities which will help him to meet the challenges and remain on the growth path with continuous achievement. To name few - Self confidence, strong Will Power, Positive attitude, Learning approach, Vision, approach towards continuous improvement, team building.

Confusing ISO with Process

Confusing ISO with Process, can companies with inefficient, even “broken” process successfully go through ISO-certification? Over the years, I’ve encountered a number that have, which answers the question for me. ISO certifies that quality standards are in place, but it’s a poor indicator of how high the standards are and whether they’re the best the company can do. ISO certification also fails to gauge whether process has been designed to optimize customer experience, despite including numerous customer-related standards.

Nevertheless, organizations frequently confuse the two. Any thoughts on why?

After a decade of quality management system audit and consulting assignments internationally and in a variety of industries, I constantly encounter companies who prominently display their ISO certificate(s) even though they have "broken processes." The two primary contributing factors to this scenario are lack of top management commitment to the effective implementation of the ISO9001 or equivalent standard and incompetent ISO9001 certification bodies and/or auditors.

Dick, if top management of the companies you referred to were truly knowledgeable about the ISO9001 requirements & actively participated in the implementation, maintenance & continual improvement of their quality management system, they would know if their processes are broken, realize that their ISO certificate is meaningless and would question the value-add of their certification body/auditor(s) to their operation.

Lack of top management commitment to the ISO9001 standard has been and continues to be the number one barrier to effective implementation of the ISO9001 quality management system. Until this is resolved Dick, we will continue to encounter companies who display their ISO certificates while their processes remain broken.

On Net Neutrality, Could a 1-800 Model Really Work?

On Net Neutrality, Could a 1-800 Model Really Work? As most have noticed, net neutrality storm clouds are gathering again and battle lines are being drawn. The flashpoint right now is Comcast's decision to have its Xfinity streaming content not count against its bandwidth caps, but it's not just Comcast. AT&T and Verizon are working on related ideas in which content providers would pay

I had to go check what a 1-800 model really was (we use 0800 or Freephone over here) - but the idea of the 'called party' paying for telephone traffic is well established and has to be attractive. Consumers are well used to the concept of a Freephone number.
What is different is that an Internet Connection has been seen as all or nothing rather than a per-second connection like a phone call usually is.
In order to extend this model to internet, the problem is that it calls for discrimination between different types of internet traffic and hence a reduction of Net Neutrality - something that is historically against the whole ethos of the Internet - which is why the regulators will be wary of it. Nevertheless there is a precedent and it makes alot of business sense.
I can definitely imagine people paying a charge for download of film/movies or access to sports events - direct to the content provider (rather than the ISP). The content providers would have to get commecial agreements with ISPs of course.
Of course that also reduces the ISP to a being a mere bit pipe - but maybe that's ok

Simple guide of the 4 steps you need to take to sell your business

I should write an article called "101 reasons why you should NOT hire a business broker."

Part 1: They do not earn the expensive commission they charge.
Part 2: They do not know how to do a proper valuation.

Parts 3-101 coming later.

Why is there not a dislike button

One of the biggest scams imho is the "valuation" game. It's a vain attempt to put a number on something that can't be explained by a number. A long time business person CAN put a valuation on a business after talking to the owner for quite a long time, looking at the "figures" and looking at the lifestyle of the owner, etc etc etc. Taking any notice of "data" from a business that has taken years hiding profit is an exercise in futility. I created anew or bought 58 businesses in my career and ultimately sold all of them. I always spent a couple of days in the town and talked to customers, suppliers etc and THEN made a decision. LASTLY I would look at their books. Brokers have ONE good asset that they can provide and that's connecting the buyer and seller. If the broker is good, they will also spend the time to "learn" what the seller is really selling. It's ALWAYS more than assets and I suspect that few "brokers" bother to take this time. It's too bad, because there would be a much better market for a "broker" who did it right

If they cannot find a job, they should buy a business

Many people don't realize that if they cannot find a job, they should buy a business.
How much do you need to buy a business. Normally the down payment amount required is equal to the Net Profit or “Cash Flow” of the business.

Also remember, establishing a good relationship with a professional Business Broker is the secret to finding the right business. Typically the good businesses get snapped up by buyers who have relationships with brokers, so many of the good listings never get to the general market.

Of course you are right Ron, but most people find out that they can't make the decision to take the risk. They've built up their 401k and want to keep it without risk. It's a huge decision and very few can make it. I've noticed it during the process of selling my 83 yr old business. People contact me but when they find out that they actually have to put up money, they get cold feet. I guess all it shows is the reason why very few people can be small business people.

Owning a business is a much lower risk than working for corporate America. When you own your own business you have control of your future. And then when it comes time to retire you have something to sell.

I would also like to add one of the main reasons we American's are afraid to own our own business is because of our educational system. We were taught to work for a fortune 500 company, not to be entrepreneurs. People educated outside of the USA are taught to be entrepreneurs.

The International Business Broker's Association

The International Business Broker's Association (IBBA) has been providing high quality professional education and certification of intermediaries (busienss brokers) for decades. The CBI (Certified Business Intermediary) designation should be the standard you seek to find the right person to assist in any ownership transfer. Good advisors add value...and will address each situation in the manner needed to achieve that end. Sometimes this may be strictly a consulting assignment when the parties require only a certain specific level and limited group of services.

The statistics show that only 1 or 6 businesses are actually sold of those offered to the market in the general business area (business with transaction values < $1M)... in the middle market, where we have worked since the 1980's, the stats are still poor...1 or 3. Good professional respresentation on both sides of transaction can make a significant difference in improving on these statistics and in completing a business sale in a timely manner with balanced terms at a reasonable price based on market conditions and exposure. (When engaging a transaction advisor, you should inquire about these and other stats and speak directly to prior sellers as well as their legal/accounting advisors in those deals.)

The interaction on this thread regarding pricing multiples appears to be based on adifference of definitions of "income" or "earnings". In the middle market earnings are measured and discussed based on EBIT (Earnings before interest and tax) adjusted to economically derived markets expenses for compensation, etc. Multiples vary based on the type of business (service/manufacturing/etc.), growth patterns, etc....but fall primarily into a 4X to 6X band for transactions in the $3M to $30M price range.

Smaller businesses's earning power is normally stated as SDE (Seller's discretionary income)...which is EBIT + all depreciation/amortizaion + the Seller's compensation and benefits. The "multiple" on this much different earnings base is often in the 1X to 3X range for these smaller business due to the nature of the operations. (Note: Deduction of the owner's compensation and benefits at market rates from SDE will move this multiple toward those found in the middle market.) In all cases, the new owner must be able to project a return on the investment of capital sufficient to take the risk and management responsibility of business ownership. In the end: All value is based on a prophecy of the future! ...all transactions require this meeting of the minds based on knowledge and anslysis which can be facilitated by good, professional advisors.

I don't know if any business sellers read this

I don't know if any business sellers read this, but, if they do, I think it's important to see how the arithmetic works when dealing with a business broker. Keep in mind the broker's statement above, "The sell side broker is tasked with showing and convincing the seller that the business is actually worth X and not 2X which is no easy task." Meaning the broker's task is to convince the seller to sell it for half what they think it is worth.

Using Kendric's numbers above, let's see how good a deal this is for the seller. We can use any numbers, but let's make it easy, and say the seller is currently earning $20k per month, or $240k per year, adjusted. Kendric wants you to sell your company for $480k, or 2x the adjusted net.

With 50% down, and a 10% broker commission paid at closing, the seller nets $192k, less, say, $12k in closing costs, attorney and CPA fees. So the broker gets $48k, and the seller gets $180k at closing.

Then, the seller has a note, at 6% interest, that yields $4600 per month for 5 years. That's assuming the buyer doesn't run the business into the ground or have some other personal event happen that ends the payment stream prematurely. An actuarial cash value on such a loan? Maybe $120k

So, Mr. Seller, the broker is going to try to convince you to give up your $240k per year, and trade it for $180k today and $55k per year for 5 years. Not only are you giving up the perpetual earnings, but also the earnings growth (assuming you have a good company that can grow). Hopefully, your $240k would grow to $260k, $290k, $320k, etc.

You've just traded millions of dollars of future cash flow for a one-time payout of ~$300k. By the time it takes to train the buyer, you'd have made nearly that amount, anyway, and still have the company.

It's a ROTTEN deal for the seller, unless the company stinks. Consider installing a qualified, professional manager at $60k per year and keeping the cash flow in perpetuity.

I'll say it again: It takes no talent to sell a legitimate business for 2x cash flow. It's a no brainer for the buyer. But the broker will start working against you (the seller) during the listing period, trying to convince you to cheap-sell the company, so they can get the fat commission.

It's a great deal for the broker -- you paid them $48k on this sting.

Thank you for "educating" us, Kendric. I'm not laughing.

Business Intellilgence in Columbus Ohio

Business Intellilgence in Columbus Ohio
Just curious as to who in Columbus is leveraging Business Intelligence within their organization and which tools they use? I've been using Cognos for 10 years now and a little Business Objects. WIth Microsoft and a few others with BI offerings, I'm thinking of broadening my toolset knowledge.

Thanks!

My company does a lot with BusinessObjects and MSBI tools. Informatica too I believe. It's not really my space, so I don't know a ton about it, but I could put you in contact with those who do if you're interested.

Our core application here is Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains. We are currently using various SQL Server tools (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, OLAP Cubes) on the reporting / business intelligence side to pull data into dashboards and Excel pivot tables from multiple data sources.

Share Point is something that we are testing in our dev environment as a potential solution for easier end-user access to the data.

We also still have a fair amount of reports that are generated from Crystal Reports, but hope that we find the time to transition away from this completely in the future.

We are currently using SQL Server tools as well. The integration with SharePoint and Office in general continues to improve. You can tell that Microsoft is putting a lot of investment and thought into their tool set. For businesses that run on home-grown or disparate systems, I think that using the Microsoft tools makes a lot of sense.

If you don't have experience with the Kimball approach to data warehousing, you may want to start there. The Microsoft tools don't require it necessarily, but they naturally support the Kimball methodology. The way that the Microsoft tools work will make more sense if you have that background.

My guesses are: cement, fertilizer, salt, drinking water, vitamins, what do you think?

As an exchange dedicated to alternative raw materials, particularly nanomaterials, I would have to suggest the commodities of tomorrow will include many that are currently OTC but most certainly will include nanomaterials.

Bearing in mind the relative "newness" of these materials, it is not suprising the Commodity industry does not yet find itself familiar with the paradigm shift these materials will introduce as they progress. Now a formal exchange is created to trade NMs and other commodities such as Commodity Polymers (150 grades), Industrial Chemicals and Base Energy, areas where NMs are highly relevant in the near term this proces can act as a focal point for anyone interested and responsible about the emerging field.

The fact the ability for brokers to organise around the self-regulatory and compliant EHS structure including SHE Accrediation, formal inspection and tracing of NMs creating by this exchange in collaboration with many of the stewardship agencies in NMs opens up a new opportunity for the commodity industry to get involved. While a commercial user as opposed to investment exchange, it is often forgotten that most commodity exchanges we have today all started as commercial as opposed to investment exchanges.

An interesting feature we have noticed which encouraged us to list a number of more traditional materials was the fact we have been innundated with interest expressed in many traditional commodity sectors since formal launch in December 2010 after 4 years of input.

We see areas such as Chemicals, fertilizers, Polymers where OTC markets or in-the-trade pricing methodologies have broken down, and more importantly where several investment exchanges have struggled to develop "markets" given the sheer multitude of supply offerings.

Take a simple inorganic such as TiO2 where there are almost 200 grades, some forty are now listed on INSCX and real trade is happening not in tons for 100s of tons. The same is true of commodity polymers where supply direct from producers is coming on tap at a rate of several 100,000 MT a month. These are of course traditional materials.

When we consider nanomaterials these hold a current relevance in Polymers (Several nano-enabled grades are listed on INSCX now with more planned), Fertilizers (An organic nano-Iron Chelate Fertilizer is listed in 100 Ton size on the exchange which increases a crop yield by over 20%), several metal powders, CNTs (Used to make for example that USB stick we now use), Graphene Platelets etc., the list is already upwards of 100 NMs and growing.

The exchange was created by experts in nanoscience combining with traders and brokers more familiar with exchange traded materials. Anyone interested in exploring the area can contact us at: info@inscx.com or visit the websites www.inscx.com or www.nanocapitalmarkets.com

As for information on nanomaterials try attending the event supported and endorsed by the exchange; www.nanomaterials2011.com

For me water, both drinking and irrigation. In my opinion much of the world's agriculture industry still benefits from 'low cost water' due to historical drawing rights or export driven economies. When the full cost of water is finally passed through to consumers prices will rise again. How to commoditise this activity is another question though.

In the developed world, water consumption is managed responsibly. Even outside of the developed world (BRIC nations), exponential water consumption is not viable or valid as an argument in support of Water Commodity Futures/Derivatives. Your analysis fails to take into account the rising wealth of nations, whose inhabitants, at present, do not have access to drinking water, but will. Consider the urbanization of China, do you *not* think water purification, and distribution channels come with development? The same can be said for India, and Africa. I would argue that rising incomes leads to lower birth rate, and increased quality of life. Also, no one seems to have made any reference to the fact that the EU/USA/Canada already have water purification technology (sea water in, clean water out.) Take the municipal sewage waste water purification systems in the developed world. What does it do? It makes re-use of water sustainable, and provide cleansed water back to the ecosystem.

Best and Least Understood Business in the U.S.

From the bottom of my heart I believe this is the BEST opportunity in thiscountry today and I can prove it. I have been a Master Franchisee with acompany that currently has over 3,900 locations. Once my Master Franchise...

Yes, you do have people in the MLM industry that claims you can make millions in their opportunity. What they failed to tell the prospect was it takes hard work. I do not allow anyone in my inner circle who is not willing to devote the next five years in changing their live. How can someone expect to make a Million Dollars with any MLM opportunity if they never made a Million with their corporate America position.

I'm not sure why the word "Scam" is always associated with MLM. Especially when you have the Bernie Madoff and other crooked CEO now sitting in Federal Institution. I would dare anyone to compare the numbers of Corporate Executive in the MLM industry and Corporate America who are now serving jail time and Direct Marketing will win hands down.

And for the people that claim it was a scam, I would ask the following two questions.

1.. Did they follow the system already on place.
2.. Did they have a strong support system.

I guarantee you one or both are the reason for the scam label and that is why we have been successful in recruiting the same people back into the business and finding the success.

formal letter format

Formal letter format. The one thing you want as an outcome of sending your letter is for it to get to a person who can action it. So that means finding out a real name of a person rather than just sending it to a department or to a company hoping that it will get somewhere. So find a name and address both the letter and the envelope to this person and the department or section of the company concerned.

When writing your letter it should be quite direct and come to the point quite quickly. A long rambling letter may be put to one side to be actioned at a later date so it should be factual in content especially if you are making a letter of complaint. Get to the point fast.

At the end of the letter summarize again your main points and what action you want to take place. This can be to confirm they have received your letter for example or to telephone you.

Whatever state of mind you are in especially if you are writing a formal letter of complaint you should leave all emotions out of the letter and just stick to the facts. If not, a few days later after you have calmed down you may wish you have never written it in the first place !

Here is a format

you can use for writing formal letters. We have added examples within this but the main structure remains the same.

Your exact street address
Your state and zip code

Today’s date
The name of the person you are writing to (first name and surname)
Their company name
Company department
Company address and zip code

Dear salutation (this can be Dear Mr. Smith – if you have the name of the person just put Dear (surname) and don’t include their first name) or Dear sir
First paragraph – in the first paragraph make it short at maybe one or two sentences. This should summarize exactly why you are writing to the person concerned.

Letter Body – this will have additional facts and information about your letter and why you are writing.

Closing paragraph – This should summarize the letter and have a call to action which would be you telling the person what you would like them to actually do now they have read your letter. If you want a telephone call then you need to leave your number.

Sign off - Usually this would simply be “Yours sincerely” or simply “Sincerely” if you have addressed a real person’s name in the “Dear Mr x” or “Yours faithfully” if you have addressed the letter as “Dear sir”

business intelligence tool Increased Integration

Personae are a potent business intelligence tool that are frequently misunderstood, misconstructed or assumptive. The consequences of rolling out "made up" personae as fact will ensure that any user experience is based around a premise.

Perhaps it's best to start out by defining what a persona is not. The idea that a persona is created by looking at a demographic segment and giving it a lick of personality veneer arouses dismay within any self-respecting UX practitioner.

I've seen many a personae constructed subjectively, outside of UX; hurriedly put together within pitch documents to demonstrate an awareness of a particular organisation's users. Having won the pitch, these personae are not interrogated, but believed by client and agency to be correct. They then get handed to IAs who use them to create user journeys.

Another mistake is for an organisation to predefine who they think their personae are and how many there are. This can only result in forced and diluted stereotypes that serve as a kind of pale doppelgänger. Or worse, too many personae, many of which are shades of each other. And from a business point of view, this becomes an expensive exercise that only distracts and confuses. Most persona investigation exercises yield around a handful of primaries, the median being around three.

The interesting thing about personae is that you never know what will emerge from your quantitative and qualitative data. There is something almost magical in the way archetypes emerge from the clusters of attitudes and behaviours of groups of people that you interview.

It is vital that your personae are empirical if you are to develop an insight into designing truly user-centred interfaces. I use a mixture of primary and secondary research, because it's important to validate what you discover through focus groups or interviews against data captured from surveys and the like.

Keeping an Open Mind

Remaining receptive means that you won't influence your subjects, who are often vulnerable to giving what they believe to be the right answer - after all, you are paying them to participate, and people do like to please!

This predisposition is often seen in user testing, where participants will give glowing reports of their experience on an interface, despite observational evidence to the contrary.

Setting the Criteria

It's important to establish beforehand, however, what you are hoping to achieve from your research. Are you trying to capture attitudinal data, are you investigating the type of content they would like to receive? There is a delicate balance between allowing people to wander off into delicious tangents, and bringing them back to the core of what you are trying to investigate. Allowing people to "flow" can often allow for deeper insights that may not have been uncovered within a rigid facilitation framework.

Another thing to watch out for is the group dynamic within focus groups. Some people like to lead, whilst others are passive. Ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to contribute.

It's a good idea to work in a small team when conducting primary research, so that you have several sets of eyes and ears, and can bounce your observations off of each other.

Identifying the Persona

After several focus groups or interviews, patterns begin to emerge. You notice that people across groups begin to show similar attitudes or needs. Your persona becomes a composite sketch of these findings. While your persona itself is not "real", it has its basis in real people...

Once you have what you believe are the full set of personae, it's time to discover who your primary personae are. These are the personae that, if you design for them alone, would in some way disenfranchise another persona. Analysis will reveal who the primary personae, with their distinct needs, are.

Your secondary personae will sit beneath, or between your primaries. These are the people whose needs are satisfied by designing for the primaries, but who also have additional, sometimes less important [from the business perspective], needs that can be easily accommodated within the design.

You may find that you have other personae who, while interesting, are not necessarily part of the main audience as defined by the business goals. For example, these might be people who wouldn't use a digital artefact for one reason or another. They help to form the wider picture, and these are your third, or tertiary personae.

Once you have created your hierarchy, you are ready to use your primary personae to inform the design process.

They become the voice of the user - a reminder to let go of personal whims or cognitive biases and design authentic user-centred products.

As a business tool, personae can be used across disciplines to enlighten and inform production. The insight that they provide means that a brand is communicating directly with people and not "consumers". It's never a good idea to have a static view on personae - each new project requires new research. If the business proposition changes or grows, new research must be conducted. A new game, a new hand of cards, so to speak.

Since personae are constructed from real people, it's useful to recall focus group participants or interviewees to test and validate as the product is developed.

The fruit of a tree is only as sweet as the strength of its roots; it's a grave mistake to be glib about what real people do and need.

And finding out what real people's goals are is simple. Just ask them!
