Business Intellilgence in Columbus Ohio

Business Intellilgence in Columbus Ohio
Just curious as to who in Columbus is leveraging Business Intelligence within their organization and which tools they use? I've been using Cognos for 10 years now and a little Business Objects. WIth Microsoft and a few others with BI offerings, I'm thinking of broadening my toolset knowledge.

Thanks!

My company does a lot with BusinessObjects and MSBI tools. Informatica too I believe. It's not really my space, so I don't know a ton about it, but I could put you in contact with those who do if you're interested.

Our core application here is Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains. We are currently using various SQL Server tools (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, OLAP Cubes) on the reporting / business intelligence side to pull data into dashboards and Excel pivot tables from multiple data sources.

Share Point is something that we are testing in our dev environment as a potential solution for easier end-user access to the data.

We also still have a fair amount of reports that are generated from Crystal Reports, but hope that we find the time to transition away from this completely in the future.

We are currently using SQL Server tools as well. The integration with SharePoint and Office in general continues to improve. You can tell that Microsoft is putting a lot of investment and thought into their tool set. For businesses that run on home-grown or disparate systems, I think that using the Microsoft tools makes a lot of sense.

If you don't have experience with the Kimball approach to data warehousing, you may want to start there. The Microsoft tools don't require it necessarily, but they naturally support the Kimball methodology. The way that the Microsoft tools work will make more sense if you have that background.
