As a good Forex Trader

As a good Forex Trader, what percentage of your trades do you win and what percentage do you think is a reasonable monthly return on investment (ROI)

It varies. What really matters is your "expectation" which is the product of your fraction of wins times the ratio of average profit to average loss, minus 1.00. So, let's say you are right on 50% of your trades, and the winners win 2.5x what the losers lose. Your expectation is (0.50 x 2.50) - 1.00 = 0.75. That means you earn $0.75 on every $1.00 you put at risk. If you are right only 20% of the time but your winners are 10x the dollar value of your losers, your expectation is 1.00. You gain $1,00 for every $1.00 you risk. Your expectation should be > 0. the larger the better.

As far as your monthly ROI, that varies too. Obviously, if you would do better in tax free bonds, you don't want to trade. You need to be specific. If you have a $10,000 account, trade minis, and average 100 pips a week, that's about $5,000 a year on a $10,000 investment. Not too shabby.

Trading is a business and should be analyzed, monitored, and controlled as such,

My biggest learning out of Forex trading is money management. I am able to have winning trades 80% of the time, however, when I lose, I need to control my losses. This is the key to success. I generally do not use a stop loss as part of the original order, but do monitor closely to ensure I cut off losses if there is a significant trend change against my expectation or significant resistance/ support points are broken. On the return, my experience says that Forex is a high return game unlike stocks - if u get your methodology right, you can easily make few hundred thousant dollars a year

Win and lose are very Subjective ..., there are few for whom winning means even at the spead of 10 p and there may ne few for whom winning is when they must be getting 20 P , hence that matters. It matters more when you are in Forex because one Fx Dealer will charge .25 P and ok with the same and there may be another who are getting .50 P and not happy.
